Amenitiz closes $30m landmark Series A round in Spain

Spain: Barcelona-based all-in-one hospitality technology platform Amenitiz has announced that it has raised $30 million in a Series A round.

The round – which is said to be the largest-ever Series A raise for an SaaS [software-as-a-service] company in Spain – was led by Eight Roads, Wallapop, Red Points and Chalfen Ventures, with participation from Point-Nine, Otium and Backed, who also backed the startup’s $7.5 million [€6.5 million] seed round in November.

Founded in 2018, Amenitiz offers a property management system for both B&Bs and independent hoteliers to automate tasks ranging from communication to invoicing, allowing them to increase their direct bookings and reduce their dependence on online travel agencies [OTAs]. Described as a “Shopify for hotels”, Amenitiz also provides a website and channel manager, a payment module known as AmenitizPay, and marketplace with tools from third-party suppliers.

Now providing for over 4000 properties in 37 countries, Amenitiz intends to use the funding to expand its footprint into new European markets, broaden its product offering and recruit 200 new employees this year alone.

Amenitiz CEO Alexandre Guinefolleau said: “As hoteliers awaken in a post-Covid world, they find themselves even more reliant on their digital presence and online distribution to rebuild and grow their business. Their current tech stack – if any – is incapable of dealing with today’s challenges and guest expectations.

“This is why we created Amenitiz, to empower independent hoteliers to master every aspect of running their properties and allow them to build a thriving business,” he added.

Lucile Cornet, partner at Eight Roads and new Amenitiz board member, said: “Amenitiz has shown impressive momentum despite the pandemic. This shows how a 10x better product, which is intuitive and easy to use, can quickly achieve product-market fit in a sector that has seen very little innovation in the past few decades.”
